Tada!

The finished article!

This is the crocheted crop cardigan that I started while I was staying with my sister in October. I've finally got it finished - only a few buttons to add.

Not really very sure of it to be honest. I think I need more practice on crocheted ribbing. But it will do for now!

I'm sure crafty use of safety pins will save the day!

PS the one on the right is what it's meant to look like! And the Waffle Pullover (for giant toddlers - weird perspective in that photo) further down is the one that I'm working on next.

A different kind of handmade.

I was wondering what to do with myself this evening seeing as my man has gone out drinking with his mates. And then I remembered the bread mix big sis gave me when I was in Canada.

This is the result. (It actually looks a lot better in the 'flesh' than it does in this photo - blame my mobile phone.

As you can see I couldn't wait to try a bit. Mmmm! It tastes damn good.

And in case you're wondering why it's a Canadian bread mix, they just make better gluten free ones over there.

PS The rest of the evening will be spent crocheting, drinking red wine and watching The Narnia Chronicles on DVD - all at the same time!

What crafters do at Christmas ...

...while their dearly beloveds play 'let's kill aliens' on PS3!

This crop top is the one I started while visiting my sister in Canada. I was hoping to be able to post a photo of it finished by now, but true to form I'm now on the ribbing second time round.

It will look nice even if it kills me in the process!

Now that Christmas is over...

...you'll probably be thinking about what to do for New Year, or Hogmanay as it's called in Scotland.

Well, think no more - I have the perfect Hogmanay evening out for you. Come and join us at Scotland's friendliest Hogmanay party on Stirling Esplanade where you can see (and hear) the magnificent Deacon Blue bring in the New Year with style.

Tickets are still available at £25 each, or £80 for a family ticket, online or from various outlets in Stirling. You won't be disappointed.

And even better, the weathermen say it's going to be a dry and frosty night - wrap up warm, but then you'll be dancing so much you won't worry about a bit of cold.

It must be Christmas!

I finished work tonight and now I'm watching It's a Wonderful Life by candle light.

It really must be Christmas!

But bad ones are even better!

It's Christmas!

Possibly the earliest appearance yet of Christmas in the Honeybeedz house.

We bought the tree today and I just couldn't resist putting it up and decorating it straight away.
And then the rest of the decorations just kind of jumped out of the box as well.

Yay!

Christmas is coming!

At least here in Stirling it is.

Santa made his appearance in Stirling city centre this morning, along with a marching band and real reindeer.

His visit kicks off Stirling's Winter Festival, one of the highlights of which has to be the fabulous Deacon Blue in concert at the castle for Hogmanay (31st December). The strange coincidence is that I actually booked Deacon Blue as a student entertainments organiser more years ago than I care to remember, so to have them headlining here for Hogmanay feels extra special.

See in 2009 in style, come visit us in Stirling!!

Little old lady

I thought I would blog about something a bit different tonight.

My little old lady cat is sat on me in bed tonight and I have to say she's looking her age. My girlie is 18 or 19 and doing pretty well considering. We keep thinking she'll be on her way soon and each time she surprises us.

I'll miss her when she's gone.

After workout treats

After coming back from my holiday in Canada I've been struggling to get back into my routines. So this morning it was off to the gym. And then as a reward, off to my favourite coffee shop for a skinny latte.

The only question is did I work off more calories than I'm now putting on. Also, why does the music in here have to be so loud!

And for those of you who are interested, this is what I was listening to.

Portable crafting

It's amazing what you can fit into hand baggage to keep you occupied while you travel.

I'm currently at Heathrow airport on my way back from visiting big sis in Canada. Without the wool and hook I'd be bored and miserable instead of just miserable.

Great holiday sis, missing you tons already.

Thursday 6 November 2008

Mmmm, wool!

Oh me, oh my, look at all that lovely wool.

A final visit to Black Sheep Yarns before I come home to Scotland was on the schedule today and this is what I came away with.

Lots of yarn projects to keep me busy over the winter now.

Crafting again. Yay!

There's nothing like spending time with my big sis to get me crafting again.

This week's project is a cute crocheted jacket. It only took 3 attempts to get the back right and even then I think I've invented my own stitch!

Watch this space for pics of the finished article - hopefully before too long!

North American fall colour

Captured on my way to the gym the other day.

Amazing colour and even more amazing that I was going to the gym on my holiday!

(PS Guess who has just worked out she can blog from her mobile phone!)

Shopping with a tiger

Today is Halloween and being in North America, it is Halloween big style.

I can safely say that this is the first time I've ever been shopping with a tiger, and a small furry one at that!!
